The Ragged Word is an indie rock band from the Pacific Northwest, rooted in the American experience. Quirky songwriting, honest lyrics and melody-driven instrumental work define their warm sound. If you listen closely, subtle influences ranging from the Beatles, Wilco and The Flaming Lips come to mind. Fueled by guitar soundscapes, transcending rhythms and a gritty Rhodes, they put their hearts into every performance.
The Ragged Word initially formed in 2008 when guitarist/vocalist Mac Brown [formerly of Five Fingers of Funk], bassist Curtis Waterbury, drummer Austin Stewart and multi-instrumentalist Scott McAuliffe migrated to Mac’s family cabin to record. The band brought in Erik Golts [Summer Ono], a talented musician in his own right, as the engineer. After cornering him with the family axe, Erik was persuaded to became the fifth member of the band and fill out the sound on guitar and vocals.
The Ragged Word plays regularly at venues in the greater Portland area. They released their debut EP in the fall of 2009 and are working on a full-length album for release in 2010.

Hello-
My name is Jordan and I do the music booking here are Vino Vixens Wine Shop and Lounge. I have been listening to your project , and think it might be a really good fit for our venue. You guys sound fantastic, and I would love to get you in here! We are located on SE Powell and 29th, and have a huge lounge with a fabulous PA as well as a game room, a wine shop, and lots of delicious things to drink. We have shows here almost every night (you can see our listings in the WW and the Mercury).
Are you available to play on June 5th? If you could let me know as soon as possible, that would be great.
Thanks
-Jordan
